Shilpoo Anand, Health Coach

I, Shilpoo Anand, a resident of Lawrenceville, NJ, relocated to this city from Connecticut when my husband transferred to work for BMS in the Princeton area. I have a BS degree in chemistry and in Education, including Master's in Rural Development with a Medical Transcriptionist & Integrative Health Nutrition certification.

I felt strongly that I could use my extensive educational background towards some potential career opportunity in my new adopted world in the USA. But as it goes, destiny had planned a

different and unique career pathway for me, something that I always believed in from my childhood days, something that I build a passion for following my father in his footsteps of using food as a medicine.

In my initial career days in Connecticut as a project scheduler at Pfizer, I dealt with my son's severe case of bronchitis and allergies and eventually with my health condition of Celiac. In both cases, I was able to reverse my son's and mine's condition with the help of Ayurveda, yoga, and using food as a medicine. My journey dealing with autoimmune and digestive disorders pushed me to find alternative pathways to help me heal, especially when there was no cure for my ailments in the pharmaceutical world. During this time, I realized that people need health coaches badly because each patient needs direction, a helping hand, and a coach for lifestyle changes. During this time, I realized that I could pursue my career as an Integrative Nutrition coach, get certified, and start my career journey as a Health Coach. I feel blessed to have found something as my career that I love and thus help patients prevail over serious diseases by changing their food habits.

As a Health Coach, I advocate and champion the holistic approach to health and well-being. I believe that it's not just about the food on your plate but also how you nourish yourself through other areas of your life, such as your relationships, career, physical activity, and spirituality, that impacts your overall well-being.

My peer members respect me as an organized, empathic, patient, and approachable health coach who takes time and effort to understand each patient's unique health issues. I work with my patients 1:1 to create an individualized plan of action to help them overcome their health issues and help them manage their health to reach their health goals—from weight loss to stress management to resolving chronic conditions through diet.
